| Location: Hotel rooftop, daaru launch Time: Last night My look: Bored, out of place, in kurta (which is so out of place cause there were all these chickky types in little clothes) Scene: I was at a shoot last night and while my camera guys were shooting something I wanted them to, this guy approaches me after checking me out from a distance. Lets call him BB --> Boring Banker
BB: Hi, are you in the media? Me: Yes, why? BB: Can I sit here? (sits without waiting for an answer) .. so which channel do you work for.. He went on to tell me how a senior reporter with my channel had interviewed him in his B-school days as a part of some story. Politely I asked him where he worked. He whispered his banks name. Like a sacred word! BB: You know, I am here to check out the location for an event we were thinking of organising. Obviously it cannot be as distasteful as this (after some serious skin showing skimpy dancing of some white women.. which I am sure the men enjoyed)... It will be a banking event afterall! And my bank is so conservative. Me: Then you need a conference room...(Duh) Why would a terrace venue interest you? Also, this is a daaru party, it cannot the same can it? BB: So where do you put up? (He went on to inform me where he stayed...) Me: Close-by. BB: So the hours you put in must be bad no? Me: So what has this got to do with me. I mean, why are you here? (Speechless I see!).. I mean, when you came and spoke to me, you asked me if I was in the media. I thought you needed some media advice. (Vague look on his face) BB: Oh, I asked because you can come to know a media person.. (yeah yeah, my fab india kurta, I know it! But dont stereotype moron, I wore them even when I was in college) Me: Acha.. I gtg, my camera guys are finished with the shoot BB: Can I have your card? We both looked for cards (dont ask me why I gave him mine.. but I was just so amused at his earnestness that I did).. and after taking my card, the moron says he doesnt have his cards on him. Drat.
Ok, so he might have been a serial killer for all I care, but I was too amused. Probably one of the funniest events to happen at the party! And its nice when someone approaches you for no apparent reason. Doesnt happen to me often, ok! :-)
Oh, btw, I also went sailing and kayaking yesterday morning! My job is getting better!!! Whipee! |
